Yesterday at Mass in Aberdeen Father said something extraordinary about the Ordinary. He was talking about Pentecost and our mission as Christians. How the apostles, the small band in the upper room, were called and responded. They changed the world. Father urged us to answer the call, in whatsoever way God has lain upon our hearts, to change the world.
We can. Radical lovers of Jesus.
He said that now the Easter Season is over and Ordinary Time has begun. For us, Ordinary Time should be when we set out, strengthened by the gifts of the Holy Spirit, to fulfill the mission to know, love and serve.
OUR “ordinary” should be apostolic.
OUR “ordinary” should be evangelical.
OUR “ordinary” should be shouting from the hilltops and dancing wildly with joy and not hiding it under a bushelness.
OUR Ordinary Time should be extraordinary.
